Abby's practice focuses on estate planning, estate and trust administration, adoptions, and guardianships. After earning her law degree from Boston University School of Law in 1988 where she was Managing Editor of the Boston University Law Review, Abby clerked for the Honorable Samuel W. Collins, Jr. of the Maine Supreme Judicial Court from 1988 to 1989. Abby received her undergraduate degree from Colby College, magna cum laude, in 1983, and also studied at the London School of Economics (1981-1982). Abby was formerly associated with the firms of Pierce Atwood and Bernstein, Shur, Sawyer & Nelson.
Abby is a member of the Bar in both Maine and Massachusetts. She is a member of the American Academy of Adoption Attorneys, and the Trusts and Estates Section, Elder Law Section, and Women's Law Section of the Maine State Bar Association. Abby served on the Board of Directors of the Young Lawyers Section from 1991 to 1994 and from 1993 to 1995 she served as a Member of the Caroline Duby Glassman Award Committee and chaired that Committee from 1995 to 1997. Abby ran the AIDS Legal Referral Project from 1994 to 1998. She served as a director of the Maine Estate Planning Council from 1996 to 2000, and as its President from 2000 to 2001. In addition, Abby has worked with local community organizations including Portland Trails and the Greater Portland YMCA.
