We are a law firm of five lawyers, four paralegals, and three administrative assistants. The firm has a state-wide practice, which we have restricted to the areas of estate planning, trust and estate administration, adoptions, charitable giving, and business succession planning. This includes such matters as private foundations, special needs trusts, estate, gift and generation-skipping transfer tax planning, and dealing with issues arising from the decoupling of the Maine and Federal estate tax systems and the Maine Legislature's adoption of the Uniform Prudent Investor Act, the Uniform Principal and Income Act of 1997, and the Uniform Trust Code. Three of our five shareholder attorneys are Fellows of the American College of Trust and Estate Counsel (ACTEC). Our goal is to provide superior service to clients with estate planning and related needs on a timely basis and at a reasonable cost. We welcome opportunities to work with lawyers, fiduciaries, and clients from other states and countries with regard to the Maine aspects of estate, trust, and related planning matters.

Please do not send us any confidential information by e-mail, as we cannot assure the confidentiality of such information until after a client/attorney relationship has been established. This will require a conflict of interest review on our part, followed by a letter or memorandum confirming the agreed-upon terms of our engagement. There can be no client/attorney relationship (and no assurance of confidentiality) until both of those steps have been completed.
